THE DEPARTMENT

The Laboratory Department is made up of three structures:

LABORATORY OF ANATOMY AND PATHOLOGICAL CYTOLOGY

Pathology Anatomy and Cytology is responsible for the detection and diagnosis of cancer. It enables disease management to be adapted to the specific tumor sub-type, the extension of the disease, the quality of the excision during surgery. Oncopharmacology laboratory focuses on the personalization of cancer treatments in order to direct the treatment according to the characteristics of the tumor itself or the intrinsic characteristics of the patient thus ensuring personalized medicine.
To do this, Pathological Anatomy collaborates closely with Oncopharmacology which was initiated in 2014, a joint quality approach that resulted in COFRAC accreditation for KRas analysis in 2015. This accreditation will gradually extend to all analyzes carried out in both laboratories in compliance with legislation.

In addition, the pathologist is an active player in the multidisciplinary management of the patient by participating in various organ CPRs and molecular CPR. The laboratory’s area of focus is on low mammary and gynecological pathology, ENT, salivary glands and thyroid, hematology and soft tissue sarcomas, as well as molecular management of colon and lung cancers.

The two laboratories are part of the East PACA Molecular Biology Platform set up by INCa in 2008 and they collaborate with the private sector as well as with other laboratories of the CHU Platform.

ONCOPHARMACOLOGY LABORATORY

In 2001 the Oncopharmacology laboratory was accredited by the Biomedicine Agency to conduct constitutional genetic examinations applied to pharmacogenetics and in 2004, the laboratory was accredited as Associated University Team 3836 “Oncology Pharmacological Targeting Unit” of the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis.
The unit develops multicentric clinical research programs, particularly in colorectal cancer, ENT and breast cancer using innovative techniques such as high-throughput genotyping, mutation genotyping in plasma, etc. Transfer research is organized around an experimental pathology platform, HE-CAL.

As an AFNOR certified Biological Resource Center since 2015 within the Communal Hospital Tumor Biobank CHU-CAL, the department can establish research collaborations and / or academic or industrial scientific contracts in coordination with Clinical Research and Innovation Management.
