MANAGEMENT OF DIGESTIVE CANCERS

Digestive cancers are all tumors developing from the intestinal tract and ancillary glands: esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, anus, liver (primary and secondary), bile ducts, pancreas and rare digestive tumors.

Digestive cancers represent 1/5th of cancers diagnosed in France with 68,000 new cases.

The most common is colorectal cancer and its frequency has encouraged the development of organized screening which has decrease deaths of of screened patients by 20%.

Pancreatic cancer is the only cancer with new cases increasing steadily every year (12,000 new cases in 2014), unlike other digestive cancers (stomach, esophagus, liver) which are steadily decreasing due to life style changes.

Lacassagne manages digestive cancer in partnership with public and private teams in the region (surgery, interventional radiology, endoscopy).
