MANAGEMENT OF THORACIC TUMORS

The thoracic pathology team of Antoine Lacassagne Center treats:

  • Primary bronchopulmonary cancers
  • Primary pleural tumors (mesothelioma)
  • Mediastinal tumors
  • Secondary tumors of the lung or pleura

The team is organized around a double CPR (Medico-Surgical Multidisciplinary Consultation Meeting) in close collaboration with the thoracic surgery and pneumology departments of Pasteur Hospital, Nice and can offer patients all explorations and necessary treatments. This CPR meets every week and is part of a broader framework connecting the two institutions in a single agreement in France for the treatment of patients with thoracic pathology.

Lacassagne offers all medical treatments

  • Conventional chemotherapy
  • Targeted therapies
  • Immunotherapy
  • Local treatment of tumors (radiofrequency, cryotherapy)
  • Radiotherapy

The hospital is equipped:for

  • Conformational radiotherapy (tomotherapy)
  • Stereotactic radiotherapy (Cyberknife)
  • Radiotherapy with heavy particles (protons) soon available for treatment of certain thoracic tumors

CAL also has a structured supportive care team that can intervene at all stages of the disease

Thoracic surgery is performed at Nice University Hospital. The thoracic surgery department is located in the same building as the pneumology department.

ANTOINE LACASSAGNE CENTER HAS A FULL IMAGING TECHNICAL PLATFORM

The bronchoscopy endoscopy service is located at the Pasteur Teaching Hospital in the pneumology department 100 m from the Center and undertakes all endoscopic diagnostic procedures.

  • EBUS (Echo Bronchial Endoscopy)
  • Interventional bronchoscopy

The Center’s pulmonologists use this technical platform jointly with the CHU’s pulmonologists several times a week.
